DEMONSTRATION: Stop The Bedroom Tax Demo in Leeds City Centre
Saturday, 20th April (details tbc)
Hands Off Our Homes has been organising around the Bedroom Tax since last year, and have a clear demand that the Labour-led Leeds City Council refuse to implement the policy. On Saturday 20th April we will take to the streets and we will bring the message loud and clear – Leeds tenants can’t and won’t pay for this cut in housing benefit and our friends will stand beside us. NO TO THE BEDROOM TAX. NO TO WELFARE CUTS. NOT NOW, NOT EVER. NO EVICTIONS, CLEAR ARREARS.
Let us know you’re coming and invite your friends! If you can help out promoting this please get in touch!

Labour Left Day of Action
Labour Left are holding a ‘Day of Action on the Bedroom Tax’ this Saturday 16th March, from 2pm in the University of Leeds Michael Sadler Building, SR (LG 19) It will consist of ‘1. A Meeting around community campaigning and the bedroom tax 2.Going out into communities affected by the bedroom tax [Ireland Wood and Potternewton Estate] and talking to people on the doorstep to ensure they know what is happening, are getting help and asking them to sign a petition and help us fight the bedroom tax’. This is organised by a couple of Labour councillors and we will be asking if they are going to support our campaign by refusing to implement the tax at the local level.
And finally – we really need help getting our local meetings publicised in your areas. If you live in one of the areas where there is an upcoming meeting and can spare an hour giving out leaflets or putting up posters, the campaign will grow. Get in touch!
See you on the streets! (And in your homes! And in the community centres! And at the bus stop!)
